    March 16, 2023 Contextual is set to host a special in-person (and virtual) event Sydney Mobile Apps Meetup: The War on Bugs: Automating QA for scaling Mobile and Web Apps in partnership with Deputy @ Deputy head offices on level 13, 580 George Street Sydney.

     

    About the event

    The most successful apps don’t just have to be really great, they have to be really great in a countless number of different scenarios and perform optimally under sometimes extremely challenging conditions. This is where QA the unsung heroes of a product’s success play their most crucial role.

     

    This panel session will feature several speakers who are industry experts in quality assurance testing for mobile and web apps at scale. Hosted by David Jones CEO Contextual, board member @ Fishburners and co-convenor for the Sydney Mobile Apps and Android Australia user Group – Meetup panel members will be invited to share their experiences, successes and learnings.

     

    Featured Speakers

     

    James Morrissey

    James Morrissey is a Senior Android Engineer on the Mobile Platform Team @ Deputy. He is across all aspects of the mobile platform, CI, and digs into backend as needed to solve performance bottlenecks. In the last year he has worked closely with QA Engineering to integrate various testing frameworks into our tech stack for evaluation. He worked at Westfield & GoCatch and currently at Deputy for over 3 years where he has brought technical excellence and passion for the craft. When he’s not brewing craft beer at home, he’s developing his own reddit client for Android called Mellow.

     

    Sooyeon (Sue) Park

    Sooyeon (Sue) Park. QA Automation Lead @ Contextual Sooyeon is an experienced QA engineer with over four years of expertise in specialized testing areas, including test automation and performance testing. Sue is a solution-oriented team player who prioritizes collaboration between product and engineering teams to effectively implement features that benefit end-users. Prior to transitioning into a career in software engineering, Sooyeon was a classical musician with a keen ear for sound quality.

     

    Since joining the Contextual team after completing her Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Sooyeon has been instrumental in improving the team’s quality engineering practices and fostering a harmonious work environment. 

     

    James and Sue will share their experiences and perspectives in running a highly scalable QA operations in a “fireside chat” format hosted by David Jones followed by an AMA session. David Jones is Founder/CEO of Contextual . David Jones is also a product-obsessed founder whose last company, ThreatMetrix, exited in March 2018 for over $1B. His previous company exited to Surfcontrol (now Forepoint) and his current company is Contextual. Contextual delivers a codeless SaaS Onboarding solution for Mobile and Web applications – the team can often be found around Fishburners. David is also a Founding Mentor at Startmate.

    Contextual to host Sydney Mobile Apps Meetup “Secrets of Success for Indie Apps”

    December 14, 2022 Contextual is set to host a special in-person (and virtual) Sydney Mobile Apps Meetup “Secrets of Success for Indie App Developers ” in partnership with Fishburners on level 3, 11 York Street at the Sydney Start-up Hub.

    This in-person Meetup hosted by Contextual CEO David Jones will feature a panel of  two independent mobile software developer veterans who will share their “Secrets of Success for Indie App Developers”

    Graham Dawson

    Graham has created, developed and sold apps since the inception of the App Store.

    Graham’s successes include iOS apps “Oz Weather” (ranked number 3 in weather and once top paid app in Australia) and “Sun Seeker” (# 6 in Navigation and consistently top ranked worldwide in Navigation category).

    Graham is the founder and director of Ajnaware Pty Ltd. Anjaware creates and sells apps under the business name ozPDA.

    Peter Delahunty.

     

    Peter describes himself as an old skool indie hacker (25 year+), He has used more programming languages / frameworks than he can remember and is perpetually in the pursuit of Startup success.

    Peter’s tech life highlights include YCombinator Alumni, building 1 of the 5 flagship products for SiteMinder (IPO exit last year) and he could probably write a book on what not to do in a startup. Peter is now CTO in Climate Tech Startup.

    Peter’s independant app is “Pistuu – Plant Based Recipes” a highly popular vegan recipe and meal planning app.

    Graham and Peter will share their experiences and perspectives in building highly successful mobile apps in a “fireside chat” format hosted by David Jones followed by an AMA session.
